Haiku and photography by Jonathan

everything buried
in a foot of fresh powder
whiteness abounds

voices, thoughts muffled
in icy deep corridor
small dog bites my leg

a snowy start
with a sunny middle
what lies at the end?

a pregnant gal
will not lament the lack
of a hard ski trip

she will not care
her biology now prepares her
to accept what is true and real

quiet awareness
paige skis back to the car
heart monitor on

the first day of spring
we receive a fine white gift
that sticks to branches

champagne powder
untouched by afternoon sun
feels pure and new

exhilaration
of swooping down a fast trail
occasional turn

our plans have to change
with arrival of zygote
cancel that ski trip

while I pee in snow

branch above me drops its load
we both leave something

voice and eye memos
taken directly from the source
weighted snow branch curls

pleasure of gliding
with a simple, graceful kick
afternoon in march
